Vineyards & gastronomy

Vineyards, medieval fortified towns and picturesque villages are in the program of your journey in Aquitaine, a region well known for its culture, nature and gastronomy.

ITINERARY

Welcome at the airport and transfer to your hotel. Diner and night.

Bordeaux, the wine capital, its impressive Garonne riverfront and amazing architecture. After the sightseeing and the visit of La Cité duVin, unique cultural centre dedicated to the universal, living heritage of wine, you will continue to the charming village of Saint Emilion, famous for its vineyards and rich and long history. Visit of the remarkable Chateau Soutard including the wine tasting.

Welcome in Toulouse, the Pink City (after the distinctive pink stone used to construct many of its buildings), Toulouse is a cosmopolitan melting-pot that’s awash with culture, art, industry and architecture, not to mention some of the tastiest French food this side of the Mediterranean.

Transfer to Carcassonne. Explore today this exquisite ancient town, view the Cité, and admire the double ring of ramparts and 52 towers.
In 1858 Lourdes rose to prominence in France and abroad due to the Marian apparitions claimed to have been seen by the peasant girl Bernadette Soubirous, who was later canonized. Shortly thereafter the city with the Sanctuary of Our Lady Of Lourdes became one of the world’s most important sites of pilgrimage and religious tourism.

Bayonne, capital of the Basque country (in the French side) is a small very charming town, with colorful houses and its typical markets. Right on time to taste the famous « jambon de Bayonne », the Espelette Pepper, Cheeses or the Basque cake made of black cherries or pastry cream and ground almond! Enjoy! Continue to Biarritz, a small fishing village that became a favorite of the 19th century European aristocracy, and known as the “Beach of Kings”, overlooking the Bay of Biscay.

Head to the Arcachon Bay where you can climb, if you wish, the 105m high famous huge sand dune of Pilat, breathe the smell of the ocean and continue to the city of Arcachon just in time to have an oyster tasting before getting back to Bordeaux.
After breakfast, you can continue with visits on your own arrangement or take some time to walk through the “Miroir d’Eau” located between the Garonne and beautiful 18th century façades. It is the most-photographed site in Bordeaux and is listed as a contemporary World Heritage Site by Unesco. Transfer to the airport to take your flight back home.
